Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)
ततः प्रज्वाल्य नृपतिर्बकराजं प्रतापवान् । प्रेतकार्याणि विधिवद् राक्षसेन्द्रश्नकार ह
tataḥ prajvālya nṛpatir bakarājaṃ pratāpavān | pretakāryāṇi vidhivad rākṣasendraś cakāra ha ||
ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਬਕਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਚਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਜਵਲਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਧੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ-ਕਰਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਖਸ਼ਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਦਾਹ-ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਰੀਤ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕੀਤਾ।
