Shloka 18

निर्वेदोपदेशः (Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking

चन्दनागुरुमुख्यानि त्वक्पत्राणां वनानि च । तस्मिन्‌ पथि महाराज सेवमानो द्रुतं ययौ

Transliteration

candana-aguru-mukhyāni tvak-patrāṇāṁ vanāni ca | tasmin pathi mahārāja sevamāno drutaṁ yayau |

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਮਹਾਰਾਜ, ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ਼ਪਾਤ ਦੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਸਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਥੇ-ਉੱਥੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਰਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ, ਮਨਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਸਮਾਨ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਫਲ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਦਾ ਗਿਆ।
