Vyāghra–Gomāyu Saṃvāda (व्याघ्रगोमायु संवाद) — Testing Character Beneath Appearances
तस्य शौचममृष्यन्तस्ते सर्वे सहजातय: । चालयन्ति स्म तां बुद्धि वचनै: प्रश्नयोत्तरै:
tasya śaucam amṛṣyantas te sarve sahajātyaḥ | cālayanti sma tāṁ buddhiṁ vacanaiḥ praśnottaraiḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿ ਨਾ ਸਕਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਟੋਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਖਿਝ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ; ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਅਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ-ਜਵਾਬ ਤੇ ਉਲਟ-ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਡੋਲਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਯ ਹਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ।
