शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले नरेश! इस प्रकार दिनकी समाप्तिके समय उन दोनों वीरोंमें वृत्रासुर और इन्द्रके समान क्रूरतापूर्ण एवं भयंकर युद्ध होने लगा ।। गदाहस्तौ ततस्तौ तु मण्डलावस्थितौ बली । दक्षिणं मण्डलं राजन् धार्तराष्ट्रोडभ्यवर्तत
gadāhastau tatastau tu maṇḍalāvasthitau balī | dakṣiṇaṃ maṇḍalaṃ rājan dhārtarāṣṭro 'bhyavartata ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਬੋਲਿਆ—ਤਦ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਯੋਧੇ ਗਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਖੜੇ ਹੋਏ। ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਧਾਰਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੱਜੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਵੱਲ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਟੱਕਰ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
