सुभूमिकेति विख्याता सरस्वत्यास्तटे वरे । राजन्! सरस्वतीके सुन्दर तटपर वह उन अप्सराओंकी मंगलमयी क्रीडाभूमि है, इसलिये वह स्थान सुभूमिक नामसे विख्यात है

ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸਰਸਵਤੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਮ ਕੰਢੇ ਉੱਤੇ ‘ਸੁਭੂਮਿਕਾ’ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਇੱਕ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਅਪਸਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁੰਨਮਈ ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ-ਭੂਮੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਸੁਭੂਮਿਕਾ’ ਪਿਆ।
