Resolve for the Mace Duel
aham utthāya sarvān vai pratiyotsyāmi saṁyuge | anugamyāgatān savanitūn saṁvatsaro yathā |
The verse highlights steadfast resolve and the sense of inevitability in righteous combat: opponents may come one by one, yet the speaker’s readiness is constant, likened to time’s orderly progression through the seasons.
In the midst of the Shalya Parva war setting, a warrior’s determination is reported: he declares he will rise and meet all challengers as they approach in succession, using the year-and-seasons simile to stress regularity and certainty.
