चिरं हाापि जड: शूर: पण्डितं पर्युपास्य हि । न स धर्मान् विजानाति दर्वी सूपरसानिव
ciraṁ hāpi jaḍaḥ śūraḥ paṇḍitaṁ paryupāsya hi | na sa dharmān vijānāti darvī sūparasān iva ||
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜੜਤਾ ਛਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਵੀ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਮਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੜਛੀ ਸੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬੀ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਖਦੀ।
