दुर्योधनस्याग्निहोत्रे प्राक्रोशन् भैरवं शिवा: । तास्तदा प्रत्यभाषन्त रासभा: सर्वतो दिश:
duryodhanasyāgnihotre prākrośan bhairavaṃ śivāḥ | tāstadā pratyabhāṣanta rāsabhāḥ sarvato diśaḥ ||
ਧ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—“ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ ਦੇ ਅਗਨਿਹੋਤ੍ਰ-ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿੱਦੜੀਆਂ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹੀ ਚੌਹੀਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਗਧੇ ਵੀ ਜਵਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੇਂਕਣ ਲੱਗੇ।” ਇਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਅਪਸ਼ਕੁਨ ਹੈ—ਯੱਗ-ਸਥਾਨ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਵਿਘਨ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਧਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਠੀ ਵਿਪਤਾ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
