Bhīṣma–Śiśupāla-saṃvādaḥ

वृद्ध: किल समुद्रान्ते कश्चिद्धंसो5भवत् पुरा । धर्मवागन्यथावृत्त: पक्षिण: सोडनुशास्ति च
vṛddhaḥ kila samudrānte kaścid haṃso 'bhavat purā | dharmavāg anyathāvṛttaḥ pakṣiṇaḥ so 'nuśāsti ca ||
ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੰਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਸੀ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ—“ਧਰਮ ਕਰੋ, ਅਧਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੋ।”
