न विमुज्चन्ति शस्त्राणि शूरा: साधुव्रते स्थिता: । “अर्जुन जो केश खोलकर खड़ा हो
na vimucanti śastrāṇi śūrāḥ sādhuvrate sthitāḥ |
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੋ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਜੋ ਲੜਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਹਟ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੋਵੇ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੜਾ, ਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ, ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ, ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ, ਹਥਿਆਰ ਸੁੱਟ ਚੁੱਕਾ, ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਭਿੱਖ ਮੰਗਦਾ, ਜਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਣ, ਕਵਚ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਆਯੁਧ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹੋਣ। ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਯੋਧੇ ਇਹੀ ਧਰਮ-ਸੰਯਮ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
