The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in action: when a dangerous opponent threatens the order of battle, righteous warriors respond decisively. The emphasis is not on hatred but on effective restraint—using force proportionate to the need to neutralize harm.
Sañjaya reports that Sahadeva, Yudhiṣṭhira, and Nakula collectively shower Kṛtavarmā (Hārdikya) with arrows—twenty, five, and a hundred respectively—indicating a coordinated Pāṇḍava assault to check his advance in the Drona Parva battle.
