Description of Regions, Mountains, and Their Inhabitants
कर्णाटका महिषका विकल्पा मूषकास्तथा । झिल्लिका: कुन्तलाश्वैव सौहदा नभकानना:
karṇāṭakā mahiṣakā vikalpā mūṣakās tathā | jhillikāḥ kuntalāś caiva sauhadā nabhakānanāḥ ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਦੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ্ণਾਟਕ, ਮਹਿਸ਼ਕ, ਵਿਕਲਪ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸ਼ਕ; ਅਤੇ ਝਿੱਲਿਕ, ਕੁੰਤਲ, ਸੌਹਦ, ਨਭਕਾਨਨ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਵੀ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਖਣਾਪਥ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਜਨਪਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਹਾਕਾਵਿ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ ਦਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਸਰਵ-ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸੰਬੰਧਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਭਾਰ ਵੀ ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸੀ।
