पितोवाच रूपेण सदृशस्त्वं मे शीलेन च दमेन च | परीक्षितश्न बहुधा सक्तूनादझि ते सुत

Transliteration

pitovāca rūpeṇa sadṛśas tvaṃ me śīlena ca damena ca | parīkṣitaś ca bahudhā saktūn adya hi te suta ||

Translation

ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈਂ; ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ-ਸੰਯਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਅੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਤੂ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
