Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
उज्छमप्राप्तवानेव ब्राह्मण: क्षुच्छूमान्वित: । स तथैव क्षुधाविष्ट: सार्ध परिजनेन ह
uccham aprāptavān eva brāhmaṇaḥ kṣucchūmān vitaḥ | sa tathaiva kṣudhāviṣṭaḥ sārdha-parijanena ha kṣapayāmāsa taṃ kālaṃ kṛcchra-prāṇo dvijottamaḥ |
ਨਕੁਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਭੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਤੜਫਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਉੱਛ (ਅੰਨ ਦਾ ਬਚਿਆ-ਖੁਚਿਆ ਹਿੱਸਾ) ਤੱਕ ਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਿਆ। ਇਕ ਦਾਣਾ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ; ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਭੁੱਖੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਕੱਟਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਉਹ ਉੱਤਮ ਦਵਿਜ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੰਦ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
