Marutta–Indra Rivalry and Bṛhaspati’s Priestly Refusal (मरुत्तेन्द्रस्पर्धा—बृहस्पतेः पौरोहित्यनिश्चयः)

वासवो<प्यसुरान्‌ सर्वान्‌ विजित्य च निपात्य च । इन्द्रत्वं प्राप्प लोकेषु ततो वब्रे पुरोहितम्‌

vāsavo 'py asurān sarvān vijitya ca nipātya ca | indratvaṃ prāpya lokeṣu tato vavre purohitam ||

ਵਿਆਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਵਾਸਵ (ਇੰਦਰ) ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਭ ਅਸੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਿਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਦਰਤਵ ਦੀ ਸਰਬਭੌਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਦਾ ਵਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ।
