Anuśāsana-parva 17
महातपा घोरतपा अदीनो दीनसाधक: । संवत्सरकरो मन्त्र: प्रमाणं परमं तप:
mahātapā ghoratapā adīno dīnasādhakaḥ | saṃvatsarakaro mantraḥ pramāṇaṃ paramaṃ tapaḥ ||
ਵਾਯੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਤਪਸਵੀ ਹੈ, ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤਪ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਜਸਵੀ; ਉਦਾਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਏ ਦीन-ਦੁਖੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੰਵਤਸਰ (ਵਰ੍ਹੇ) ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਣਵ ਆਦਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ—ਸੱਚਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ—ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤਪ ਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ।
