देवार्थ पितृयज्ञार्थमन्नं श्रद्धाउ55हतं मया । न दत्तमर्थकामेन देयमन्नं पुरा किल

Transliteration

devārthaṁ pitṛyajñārtham annaṁ śraddhayā ujjhitaṁ mayā | na dattam arthakāmena deyam annaṁ purā kila ||

Translation

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਤ੍ਰ-ਯਜ्ञ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ; ਪਰ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਭ ਕਰਕੇ, ਜੋ ਅੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਯੋਗ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਦਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
