Sukta 140
सुमङ्गलौ दन्तौ। २ उपरिष्टाज्ज्योतिष्मती त्रिषटुप्, ३ आस्तारपङ्क्तिः। यौ व्याघ्रववरूढौ जिघत्सतः पितरं मातरं च । यौ दन्तौ ब्रह्मणस्पते शिवौ कृणु जातवेदः
sumáṅgalau dantáu | yáu vyā́ghravavarū́ḍhau jíghatsataḥ pitáraṃ mātáraṃ ca | yáu dantáu brahmaṇaspate śiváu kṛṇu jātávedaḥ
Auspicious be the two teeth: those two, tiger-jaw-mounted, ravening to devour both father and mother—those two teeth, O Lord of Prayer, do thou, O Jātavedas, make them kindly and benign.
ਉਹ ਦੋ ਦੰਦ ਸੁਮੰਗਲ ਹੋਣ। ਜੋ ਦੋ ਦੰਦ ਬਾਘ ਦੇ ਜਬੜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਾਂਗ, ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ—ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਗਲਣ ਲਈ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਹਨ—ਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣਸਪਤੇ, ਹੇ ਜਾਤਵੇਦਸ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੋ ਦੰਦ ਸ਼ਿਵ, ਮਿੱਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
