ये मा क्रोधयन्ति लपिता हस्तिनं मशका इव । तानहं मन्ये दुर्हितान् जने अल्पशयूनिव
yé mā́ krodháyanti lapitā́ hastínaṃ maśakā́ iva | tā́n aháṃ manye dúrhitān jané álpaśayūn iva ||
They who enrage me—prating fellows—like gnats that vex an elephant, those do I deem ill-set among men, as creatures with a scanty couch and lodging.
ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ—ਬਕਬਕ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛਰ ਹਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੁৰ্হਿਤ (ਮੰਦੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਲਪ-ਸ਼ਯਿਆ-ਨਿਵਾਸ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ।
