Sukta 34
जातो व्यख्यत् पित्रोरुपस्थे भुवो न वेद जनितुः परस्य । स्तविष्यमाणो नो यो अस्मद् व्रता देवानां स जनास इन्द्रः
jātó vyákhyat pitrór upásthe bhúvo ná veda janitúḥ párasya | stavíṣyamāṇo no yó asmád vratā́ devā́nāṃ sá janāsa índraḥ
Born, he made himself manifest in the lap of his two parents; he knew not the worlds, nor the highest begetter. Yet, while he is to be praised, he who (guardeth) us from our ordinance—(and from) the gods’—he, O men, is Indra.
ਜੰਮਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ; ਉਹ ਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮ ਜਨਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ, ਜੋ ਸਤੁਤੀਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵ੍ਰਤ ਤੋਂ—ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ (ਵ੍ਰਤ) ਤੋਂ ਵੀ—ਭਟਕਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ, ਉਹੀ ਇੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
