Sukta 42

ब्रह्म स्रुचो घृतवतीर्ब्रह्मणा वेदिरुद्धिता । ब्रह्म यज्ञस्य तत्त्वं च ऋत्विजो ये हविष्कृतः । शमिताय स्वाहा

bráhma srúco ghr̥távatīr bráhmaṇā́ védir úddhitā | bráhma yajñásya táttvaṃ ca r̥tvíjo yé haviṣkr̥táḥ | śamitā́ya svā́hā

Brahman are the ghee-filled ladles; by brahman is the altar set up. Brahman is the sacrifice’s very truth, and the priests who fashion the oblation. To the Śamitar—svāhā!

ਘਿਉ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਸ੍ਰੁਚਾਂ (ਆਹੁਤੀ ਦੇ ਚਮਚੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹ੍ਮ ਹਨ; ਬ੍ਰਹ੍ਮ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਦਿ (ਯਜ੍ਞ-ਵੇਦੀ) ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਯਜ੍ਞ ਦਾ ਤੱਤ ਵੀ ਬ੍ਰਹ੍ਮ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹਵਿ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਿਤ੍ਵਿਜ (ਹਵਿਸ੍ਕ੍ਰਿਤ) ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਵੀ। ਸ਼ਮਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ—ਸ੍ਵਾਹਾ!
