Sukta 4
ये गोपतिं पराणीयाथाहुर्मा ददा इति । रुद्रस्यास्तां ते हेतिं परि यन्त्यचित्त्या
yé gopátiṃ parāṇī́yā́thā́hur mā́ dadā́ íti | rudrásyā́stāṃ té hetíṃ pári yánty ácittyā ||
They who, having led the Lord of cattle astray, then say, ‘Give not,’—upon them, through their folly, there cometh round about the missile of Rudra: so be it.
ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਗੋਪਤੀ (ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ) ਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਾ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ—‘ਨਾ ਦੇਓ’—ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ, ਆਪਣੀ ਅਚਿੱਤਤਾ/ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਕਰਕੇ, ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਦਾ ਹੇਤੀ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ) ਚੌਫੇਰੋਂ ਘੇਰ ਕੇ ਆਵੇ; ਐਸਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
