Sanskrit (Devanagari)

यो३भियातो निलयते त्वां रुद्र निचिकीर्षति । पश्चादनुप्रयुङ्क्षे तं विद्धस्य पदनीरिव

IAST Transliteration

yó bhiyā́to niláyate tvā́ṃ rudra nicikī́rṣati | paścā́d anupráyuṅkṣe táṃ viddhásya padanī́r iva ||

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

Whoso, in fear, hideth him, and would work thee harm, O Rudra—him dost thou pursue from behind, as one followeth the footprints of a man that hath been pierced.

Translation

ਹੇ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ! ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਜਿਵੇਂ ਛੇਦਿਆ/ਘਾਇਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
