FAQs

This verse conveys theological knowledge rather than a procedural ritual: Lakṣmī’s manifestation is presented as the source of śrī (auspicious splendor/prosperity), and praising her is linked with acquiring that śrī.

It exemplifies the Purāṇa’s encyclopedic scope by integrating cosmology (sarga), deity theology (Lakṣmī as śrī), and the devotional principle that divine praise is causally connected with prosperity—alongside the text’s other domains like ritual, polity, medicine, and arts.

The implied teaching is that reverent praise of Lakṣmī aligns one with auspiciousness (śrī), indicating a merit-bearing orientation toward prosperity that is ethically and spiritually sanctioned when grounded in devotion.
