arthitaṃ tatphalaṃ viddhi punaḥ kārpaṇyamāviśat | punarmaraṇamāviśya śrīṇapuṇyo bhaviṣyati
Lomaśa
Tirtha: Kedāra-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: brāhmaṇas (vipra)
Scene: A moral tableau: Indra-like figure clutching wealth/pleasures, shadow of decay and rebirth looming; Lomaśa points to the wheel of saṃsāra, urging generosity.
Clinging and miserliness erode merit; dāna sustains puṇya, while kārpaṇya pulls the soul back toward decline and repeated mortality.
No tīrtha is mentioned; the verse teaches a general dharmic principle within the Kedāra-khaṇḍa discourse.
No specific rite; the implied prescription is to avoid kārpaṇya and uphold dāna to preserve puṇya.
