Inside Sukta 53

How it unfolds

The hymn begins by ‘choosing’ Savitṛ’s supreme greatness and protective shelter, asking the mighty god to rise with his lights (RV 4.53.1).

  2. Development

It expands Savitṛ’s cosmic sovereignty: he makes the worlds shine, guards the ordinances, and sustains beings with outstretched arms—his motion is vast and lawful (RV 4.53.4).
