ଏହି ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ସୂକ୍ତଟି ଏକ ଯାଜ୍ଞିକ ଆହ୍ୱାନ—ଉଠ, ଦେଖ, ଏବଂ ସମୟୋଚିତ ଯଜ୍ଞରେ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ଯଥାର୍ହ ଭାଗ ଅର୍ପଣ କର। ଏଥିରେ ଅର୍ପଣର ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତି (ଶ୍ରାତ) ବିଶେଷକରି ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନ ସୋମ-ପୀଡନକୁ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱ ଦିଆଯାଇଛି; ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ଆସି ସହଚରମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବସି, ଆନନ୍ଦରେ ଦଧି/ପୀଡିତ ହବି ପାନ କରିବାକୁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କରେ, ଏବଂ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟଟି ଋତ (ବିଶ୍ୱ-ନିୟମ) ସହ ସମନ୍ୱିତ ବୋଲି ନିଶ୍ଚିତ କରେ।

Mantra 1

उत्तिष्ठताव पश्यतेन्द्रस्य भागमृत्वियम् । यदि श्रातो जुहोतन यद्यश्रातो ममत्तन ॥

ଉଠି ଦେଖ—ଋତୁ-ଯଜ୍ଞ ପାଇଁ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ଯଥାଯୋଗ୍ୟ ଭାଗକୁ। ଯଦି ତୁମେ ଶ୍ରାତ (ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ) ହେଉ, ତେବେ ହବି ହୋମ କର; ଯଦି ଅଶ୍ରାତ ହେଉ, ତେବେ ଅନ୍ତରେ ଆନନ୍ଦ ଓ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତିକୁ ପ୍ରଜ୍ୱଳିତ କର।

श्रातं हविरो ष्विन्द्र प्र याहि जगाम सूरो अध्वनो विमध्यम् । परि त्वासते निधिभिः सखायः कुलपा न व्राजपतिं चरन्तम् ॥

ହବି ଶ୍ରାତ (ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ) ହୋଇଛି—ଆସ, ହେ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ର; ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପଥର ମଧ୍ୟଭାଗ ଦେଇ ଆଗେଇଗଲା। ନିଧି ସହିତ ସଖାମାନେ ତୋତେ ଘେରି ବସିଛନ୍ତି—କୁଲପା (କୁଳରକ୍ଷକ)ମାନେ ବ୍ରାଜପତି (ଗୋବାଡ଼ାର ଅଧିପତି) ସହ ଚାଲୁଥିବା ପରି।

श्रातं मन्य ऊधनि श्रातमग्नौ सुश्रातं मन्ये तदृतं नवीयः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य दध्नः पिबेन्द्र वज्रिन्पुरुकृज्जुषाणः ॥

ମୁଁ ଏହାକୁ ଶ୍ରାତ ବୋଲି ମନେ କରେ—ଉଧନିରେ ଶ୍ରାତ, ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ଶ୍ରାତ; ସୁଶ୍ରାତ ଭାବେ ସେ ନବୀନ ଋତକୁ ମୁଁ ମନେ କରେ। ହେ ବଜ୍ରିନ୍ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ର, ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନ ସବନର ଦଧି ପାନ କର—ପୁରୁକୃତ୍ (ବହୁ କର୍ମ କରୁଥିବା) ହୋଇ ଆନନ୍ଦରେ ଜୁଷମାନ ହେଉ।
