It presents the “great lake” as a supreme tīrtha—“best among all tīrthas”—and frames residence/association with it as spiritually protective and materially auspicious.
Both: it says one avoids “durgati” (an unfortunate fate) and also “finds abundant gold,” a conventional Purāṇic way of expressing prosperity gained through sacred association.
The verse encourages sustained reverence and disciplined proximity (vāsā/residence) to sacred places, implying that consistent devotional conduct brings protection from downfall and supports well-being.
