FAQs

It teaches reverence and restraint: maintain proper etiquette toward one’s teacher and never appropriate what belongs to a Veda-learned person, a deity, or the guru.

A śrotriya is a qualified Vedic scholar; the text treats harming or taking such a person’s property as a serious breach of dharma because it undermines sacred learning and social-religious order.

By prohibiting taking what belongs to a deity, it supports temple ethics and devotional integrity—devotion is expressed not only by worship but also by scrupulous non-appropriation and respect.
