Sūta
Concept: Śravaṇa (attentive hearing) is the gateway to dharma: the righteous respond to teachings with measured, instructive speech.
Application: Before responding, fully hear the other person; then reply from principles (dharma) rather than impulse.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Sūta sits elevated on a simple seat, addressing a circle of sages whose faces are calm and intent. In the imagined inner scene behind him, Kuñjala the parrot turns toward his son, poised to answer, creating a layered ‘story-within-story’ visual depth.","primary_figures":["Sūta","assembly of sages (ṛṣis)","Kuñjala (inner vignette)","Kuñjala’s son (inner vignette)"],"setting":"Forest sacrificial enclosure with a small yajña-kuṇḍa, darbha grass, and hanging garlands; inner vignette floats like a narrative window.","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["ochre","sage green","smoke white","lapis blue","copper"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Sūta as central narrator with gold leaf halo, sages seated symmetrically; ornate frame with embedded inner vignette showing Kuñjala replying to his son; rich reds/greens, gilded borders, conch-and-discus motifs subtly in the arch to signal Vaiṣṇava Purāṇa tone.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: airy forest assembly with delicate faces and fine textiles; Sūta gestures gently while sages listen; a translucent inner vignette of the parrot scene appears like a painted cloud panel; cool palette with lyrical trees.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: strong outlines, stylized sage assembly, Sūta’s authoritative posture; inner vignette panel bordered like temple registers; warm pigments and rhythmic composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: narrative mandala—Sūta and sages in the center, surrounded by floral borders; inner parrot vignette in a medallion; deep blue background with gold highlights and lotus motifs."}
Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["yajña fire crackle","soft chanting undertone","birds in canopy","occasional bell punctuation"]}
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The speaker is Sūta, who frames the story by reporting that Kuñjala responded after hearing Samujjvala’s words, marking a transition in the dialogue.
The verse highlights Kuñjala’s character by calling him dharmātmā (“righteous-souled”), implying that his response will be grounded in dharma and moral discernment.
Not directly; it primarily serves as a narrative connector, setting up Kuñjala’s forthcoming reply after attentive listening.
