Adhyaya 75 — The Fall and Restoration of Revatī Nakṣatra and the Birth of Raivata Manu
ṛṣiruvāca brahmabandhoḥ sutā na tvaṃ bāle naiva tapasvinaḥ | sutā tvaṃ mama yo devān kartum anyān samutsahe ||
Purāṇic ethics often place spiritual attainment above nominal rank. The sage’s claim asserts that tapas is a legitimate power aligned with cosmic order, not merely personal pride.
Vaṃśānucarita and Manvantara context: the assertion of tapas sets the causal basis for a lineage event (birth of a Manu) and a cosmological adjustment (Revati asterism).
‘Creating other gods’ can be read as the yogic capacity to manifest new centers of order/illumination—symbolically, the awakening of higher faculties that govern one’s cosmos.
