विषहेरन् महायुद्धे कृतं ते तन्महादभुतम् । न ते जानामि यत् कार्य नाभिजानामि काड्क्षितम्
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | viṣaherān mahāyuddhe kṛtaṃ te tan mahādbhūtam | na te jānāmi yat kāryaṃ nābhijānāmi kāṅkṣitam ||
ଯୁଧିଷ୍ଠିର କହିଲେ— ମହାଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ତୁମେ ଯାହା ସହିଲ, ସେ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ମହାଅଦ୍ଭୁତ। କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କ’ଣ, ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ ନାହିଁ; ତୁମେ କ’ଣ ଚାହୁଁଛ, ତାହା ମଧ୍ୟ ମୁଁ ବୁଝିପାରୁନି।
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic concern with intention (kārya, kāṅkṣita) behind extraordinary deeds: endurance and prowess in war may be admirable, but ethical judgment requires clarity about purpose and desired outcome.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses someone whose conduct in a great battle has been remarkable, expressing amazement while also confessing uncertainty about that person’s plan—what action they are undertaking and what goal they seek.
