अनुक्त्वा च पिबन प्रश्नान्‌ पीत्वैव न भविष्यसि । यक्ष बोला--पार्थ! इस प्रकार प्राणियोंपर आघात करनेसे क्या लाभ? पहले मेरे प्रश्नोंका उत्तर दो, फिर जल पीओ। यदि तुम प्रश्नोंका उत्तर दिये बिना ही यहाँका जल पीओगे, तो पीते ही मर जाओगे

Transliteration

anuktvā ca piban praśnān pītvāiva na bhaviṣyasi |

Translation

ୟକ୍ଷ କହିଲା—“ପାର୍ଥ! ମୋ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନଗୁଡ଼ିକର ଉତ୍ତର ନ ଦେଇ ଯଦି ତୁମେ ଜଳ ପିବ, ତେବେ ପିଇବା ସହିତେ ଜୀବିତ ରହିବ ନାହିଁ। ଏଭଳି ଭାବେ ପ୍ରାଣୀମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ପ୍ରହାର କରି କ’ଣ ଲାଭ? ପ୍ରଥମେ ମୋ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନର ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଅ; ତାପରେ ଜଳ ପିଅ। ଉତ୍ତର ନ ଦେଇ ଏଠାର ଜଳ ପିଲେ, ପିଇବା କ୍ଷଣେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପାଇବ।”
