अग्निर्यश्न शिवो नाम शक्तिपूजापरश्न सः | दुःखार्तानां च सर्वेषां शिवकृत्‌ सततं शिव:

Transliteration

agnir yaḥ śivo nāma śaktipūjāparaś ca saḥ | duḥkhārtānāṃ ca sarveṣāṃ śivakṛt satataṃ śivaḥ ||

Translation

ମାର୍କଣ୍ଡେୟ କହିଲେ— ଯେ ଅଗ୍ନି ‘ଶିବ’ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ, ସେ ସଦା ଶକ୍ତି-ପୂଜାରେ ପରାୟଣ। ସେ ଦୁଃଖାର୍ତ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କର ନିରନ୍ତର କଲ୍ୟାଣ କରନ୍ତି; ତେଣୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ‘ଶିବ’—କଲ୍ୟାଣକର—କୁହାଯାଏ।
