Moral authority in a crisis rests not only on power but on trust and relationships: being esteemed by the king and friendly with revered teachers makes one’s counsel ethically influential and potentially peace-making.
Vāyudeva points out the listener’s standing in the Kuru court—honored by Dhṛtarāṣṭra and allied in friendship with Droṇa and Kṛpa—implying that this person is well-placed to advise the elders at a decisive moment before the conflict.
