Chapter 42
छन्दांसि नाम क्षत्रिय तान्यथर्वा पुरा जगौ महर्षिसड्घ एष: । छन््दोविदस्ते य उत नाधीतवेदा न वेदवेद्यस्य विदुर्हि तत्त्वम्
chandāṁsi nāma kṣatriya tāny atharvā purā jagau maharṣi-saṅgha eṣaḥ | chando-vidas te ya uta nādhīta-vedā na veda-vedyasya vidur hi tattvam, rājan |
ସନତ୍ସୁଜାତ କହିଲେ—“ହେ କ୍ଷତ୍ରିୟ! ପୁରାକାଳରେ ଅଥର୍ବା ଋଷି ଏହି ମହର୍ଷିସଂଘର ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଯାହା ଗାନ କରିଥିଲେ, ସେଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ‘ଛନ୍ଦ’—ବେଦମନ୍ତ୍ର—ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେମାନେ ବେଦ ପଢ଼ି ସୁଦ୍ଧା ବେଦଦ୍ୱାରା ଜ୍ଞେୟ ପରମାତ୍ମ-ତତ୍ତ୍ୱକୁ ଜାଣନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ବେଦବିଦ୍ ନୁହନ୍ତି, ହେ ରାଜନ।”
