Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge

ब्रह्मद्विड्‌ भविता तं॑ वै हनिष्यामीति भार्गव । शरणार्थे प्रपन्नानां भीतानां शरणार्थिनाम्‌

Transliteration

brahmadviḍ bhavitā taṁ vai haniṣyāmīti bhārgava | śaraṇārthe prapannānāṁ bhītānāṁ śaraṇārthinām ||

Translation

ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ—“ହେ ଭାର୍ଗବ! ସେ ଯଦି ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣଦ୍ୱେଷୀ ହୋଇଯାଏ ମଧ୍ୟ, ମୁଁ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ତାକୁ ବଧ କରିବି—ଏହି ମୋର ଘୋଷଣା। କାରଣ ଭୟରେ ଶରଣ ମାଗି ଆସିଥିବା, ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରପନ୍ନ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଆଶ୍ରୟଧର୍ମକୁ ଧୋକା ଦିଆଯାଇପାରେ ନାହିଁ।”
