Janaka–Sulabhā Dialogue on Mokṣa and Non-attachment
चेतनेन समेतस्य पञ्चविंशतिकस्य ह । एकत्वं वै भवत्यस्य यदा बुद्धा न बुध्यते
cetanena sametasya pañcaviṁśatikasya ha | ekatvaṁ vai bhavaty asya yadā buddhā na budhyate ||
ବସିଷ୍ଠ କହିଲେ—ପଞ୍ଚବିଂଶତି ତତ୍ତ୍ୱମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଗଣ୍ୟ ଜୀବ, ଶୁଦ୍ଧ ଚେତନା ସହ ଯୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇ, ଯେତେବେଳେ ବୁଦ୍ଧି ଦ୍ୱାରା ‘ଜାଣିବା’ (ଅହଂ-ମମତାର ଗ୍ରହଣ) ଛାଡ଼ିଦିଏ—ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଜଡସମୂହକୁ ‘ମୁଁ’ ‘ମୋର’ ବୋଲି ନ ଧରେ—ସେତେବେଳେ ପରମାତ୍ମା ସହ ତାହାର ଏକତ୍ୱ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ।
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Liberation arises when the self stops identifying with the inert psycho-physical aggregate through buddhi; with the collapse of ‘I/mine’ appropriation, the self’s unity with the ever-conscious Supreme is realized.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on liberation, Vasiṣṭha explains a Sāṅkhya-leaning analysis: the self (counted among the tattvas) is associated with consciousness, and when intellect ceases to project identification, the realization of oneness with the Supreme follows.
