Vānaprastha-vṛtti and the Transition toward the Fourth Āśrama (वानप्रस्थवृत्तिः चतुर्थाश्रमोपक्रमश्च)
यदि वा सर्ववेदज्ञो यदि वाप्यनूचो द्विज: । यदि वा धार्मिको यज्वा यदि वा पापकृत्तम:
yadi vā sarvavedajño yadi vāpy anūco dvijaḥ | yadi vā dhārmiko yajvā yadi vā pāpakṛttamaḥ |
ବ୍ୟାସ କହିଲେ: ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ସର୍ବବେଦଜ୍ଞ ହେଉ କି ଅନୂଚ (ଅଶିକ୍ଷିତ) ଦ୍ୱିଜ ହେଉ; ଧର୍ମାତ୍ମା ଓ ଯଜ୍ଞଶୀଳ ହେଉ କି ପାପୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପରମ ପାପକର୍ତ୍ତା ହେଉ—ଯଦି ସେ ଏହି ଦ୍ୱାଦଶ ଯୋଗକୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ୍ ଜ୍ଞାନରେ ଜାଣିନେଉ, ତେବେ ସେ ଜରା-ମରଣର ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦୁର୍ଗମ ସାଗରକୁ ପାର ହୋଇଯାଏ।
