Educational Q&A

Acting without examining consequences and context is labeled kārpaṇya (weak, blameworthy irresolution), whereas acting after careful consideration (samīkṣya) is itself a guṇa (virtue) in the action.

Śaunaka comments in a didactic tone, contrasting unexamined, impulsive undertaking with reflective deliberation, framing the latter as ethically commendable within the Shānti Parva’s instruction on right conduct.
