भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal
न सम पश्यामहे कंचित् प्राणान् यः परिरक्षति । संग्रामे दैत्यसंकाशे तस्मिन् वीरवरक्षये
na sama paśyāmahe kañcit prāṇān yaḥ parirakṣati | saṅgrāme daityasaṅkāśe tasmin vīravarakṣaye ||
ଦୈତ୍ୟସଦୃଶ ସେଇ ଭୟଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗ୍ରାମରେ—ଯାହା ମହାବୀରମାନଙ୍କର ବିନାଶ କରୁଥିଲା—ଆମେ କାହାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ନିଜ ପ୍ରାଣ ରକ୍ଷା କରୁଥିବା ଦେଖିଲୁ ନାହିଁ; ସମସ୍ତେ ବୀରଧର୍ମରେ ପ୍ରେରିତ ହୋଇ ସଂହାର ମଧ୍ୟକୁ ଆଗେଇ ଯାଉଥିଲେ।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethos of the battlefield where warriors, bound by kṣatriya-dharma and honor, do not prioritize self-preservation; it underscores the tragic intensity of war in which even the greatest heroes rush toward death rather than retreat.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the fighting has become so fierce—like a demonic onslaught—that he observes no combatant acting to save his own life; instead, the battle is characterized by wholesale destruction of eminent warriors.
