Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
उपवासपरिश्रान्तो यदा त्वमपि कर्शित: । “आप भी तो जराजीर्ण
upavāsa-pariśrānto yadā tvam api karśitaḥ |
ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆପଣ ମଧ୍ୟ ଉପବାସରେ କ୍ଳାନ୍ତ ହୋଇ କୃଶ ହୋଇପଡ଼ିଛନ୍ତି, ସେତେବେଳେ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଯେ ଆପଣ ଜରାଜୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ବୃଦ୍ଧ, କ୍ଷୁଧାତୁର ଓ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦୁର୍ବଳ। ତେଣୁ ଆପଣ ଯେପରି ଭୁଖର କଷ୍ଟ ସହନ କରନ୍ତି, ସେପରି ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସହିବି।
नकुल उवाच
The verse highlights titikṣā (patient endurance) and shared discipline: one should bear hardship with steadiness, and ethical resolve is strengthened when austerity is undertaken with empathy and solidarity rather than pride.
Nakula addresses another person who is visibly weakened by fasting and hunger, pointing out their frailty and fatigue; he then declares that he too will endure the same hunger, presenting the act as a mutual commitment to austerity.
