Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra
अभिवादयते पार्थ तं पश्य पुरुषर्षभ । 'भैया! भरतश्रेष्ठ! यह तुम्हारे भानजे सुरथका औरस पुत्र है। पुरुषप्रवर पार्थ! इसकी ओर देखो, यह तुम्हें प्रणाम करता है”
abhivādayate pārtha taṃ paśya puruṣarṣabha | bhaiyā bharataśreṣṭha etat tava bhānje surathakā aurasaḥ putraḥ | puruṣapravara pārtha asya oraṃ paśya eṣa tvāṃ praṇamati ||
ବୈଶମ୍ପାୟନ କହିଲେ—ହେ ପାର୍ଥ, ହେ ପୁରୁଷର୍ଷଭ, ତାକୁ ଦେଖ; ସେ ତୁମକୁ ଅଭିବାଦନ କରୁଛି। “ଭାଇ, ଭରତଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ! ଏହା ତୁମ ଭାଣଜା ସୁରଥର ଔରସ ପୁତ୍ର। ପୁରୁଷପ୍ରବର ପାର୍ଥ, ଏହାର ଦିଗକୁ ଦେଖ; ଏହା ତୁମକୁ ଆଦରରେ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରୁଛି।”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage highlights dharmic social conduct: honoring elders and eminent persons through formal salutation, and affirming rightful lineage (aurasa-putra) as a basis for recognition and responsibility within the family and polity.
Vaiśampāyana narrates a moment where Arjuna (Pārtha) is asked to look at a young man who is respectfully bowing. The speaker identifies him as the legitimate son of Arjuna’s nephew Surathā, introducing him within the Bharata family context.
