Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
पाद्यमासनमेवाथ दीपमन्नं प्रतिश्रयम् । दद्यादतिथिपूजार्थ स यज्ञ: पजचदक्षिण:
Bhīṣma uvāca: pādyaṃ āsanam eva atha dīpam annaṃ pratiśrayam | dadyād atithipūjārthaṃ sa yajñaḥ pañcadakṣiṇaḥ ||
ଅତିଥିପୂଜାର୍ଥେ ପାଦ୍ୟ (ପାଦ ଧୋଇବା ପାଇଁ ଜଳ), ଆସନ, ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇଁ ଦୀପ, ଭୋଜନ ପାଇଁ ଅନ୍ନ, ଓ ରହିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଶ୍ରୟ—ଏହି ପାଞ୍ଚଟି ଦାନ ଦେବା ଉଚିତ; ଏହାକୁ ‘ପଞ୍ଚଦକ୍ଷିଣ ଯଜ୍ଞ’ କୁହାଯାଏ।
