Cyavana’s Yogic Display and Kuśika’s Recognition of Tapas (च्यवन-योगप्रभावः कुशिकस्य तपःप्रशंसा च)
च्यवन उवाच राजन् नाहंम्यहं कोटिं भूयो वापि महाद्युते । सदृशं दीयतां मूल्यं ब्राह्मणैः सह चिन्तय
cyavana uvāca rājann nāhamya-haṁ koṭiṁ bhūyo vāpi mahādyute | sadṛśaṁ dīyatāṁ mūlyaṁ brāhmaṇaiḥ saha cintaya ||
ଚ୍ୟବନ କହିଲେ—“ହେ ରାଜନ୍, ହେ ମହାତେଜସ୍ବୀ! ମୁଁ ଏକ କୋଟି—କିମ୍ବା ତାହାଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ—ମୁଦ୍ରାରେ ବିକ୍ରୟଯୋଗ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ। ଯଥୋଚିତ ପ୍ରତିଦାନ ଦିଅ; ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣମାନଙ୍କ ସହ ଭାବି ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି କର।”
च्यवन उवाच
True worth—especially of a sage or Brahmin—cannot be reduced to money; any offering should be proportionate and dharmic, decided with wise counsel rather than greed or bargaining.
Cyavana addresses a king who is considering a ‘price’ or recompense; Cyavana refuses any notion of being purchasable even for an enormous sum and instructs the king to determine an appropriate offering in consultation with Brahmins.
