Chapter 34
अभुकक्त्वा देवकार्याणि कुर्वते येडविकत्थना: । संतुष्ट श्च क्षमायुक्तास्तान् नमस्याम्यहं विभो
abhuktvā devakāryāṇi kurvate ye ’davikatthanāḥ | santuṣṭāś ca kṣamāyuktās tān namasyāmy ahaṃ vibho prabho ||
ନାରଦ କହିଲେ—ହେ ପ୍ରଭୁ! ଯେମାନେ ଭୋଜନ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଦେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ (ଦେବପୂଜା) କରନ୍ତି, ନିଜ ବଡ଼ାଇ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ରହନ୍ତି ଏବଂ କ୍ଷମାଶୀଳ—ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରେ।
नारद उवाच
The verse praises a dharmic character: one who places worship and duty before personal enjoyment (eating), avoids boasting, remains content, and practices forgiveness. These virtues together mark inner discipline and social harmony.
Nārada is speaking in a didactic context, offering a reverential salute to exemplary people and listing the qualities that make them worthy of honor—ritual responsibility, humility, contentment, and forbearance.
