Pātra-Lakṣaṇa and Niścita-Dharma
Marks of a Worthy Recipient and Stable Criteria of Dharma
कन्यां तां प्रतिगृहौव भार्या परमशो भनाम् । उवास मुदितस्तत्र स्वाश्रमे विगतज्वर:
kanyāṃ tāṃ pratigṛhyaiva bhāryāṃ paramaśobhanām | uvāsa muditas tatra svāśrame vigatajvaraḥ ||
ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ— ସେଇ ପରମ ଶୋଭାମୟୀ କନ୍ୟାକୁ ପତ୍ନୀରୂପେ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିବା ସହିତ ମୁନିଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ତ ଚିନ୍ତା ଓ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଜ୍ୱର ଶାନ୍ତ ହେଲା। ସେ ଜ୍ୱରରହିତ, ଆନନ୍ଦିତ ଓ ପ୍ରଶାନ୍ତଚିତ୍ତ ହୋଇ ନିଜ ଆଶ୍ରମରେ ତାଙ୍କ ସହ ବସବାସ କଲେ।
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights āśrama-dharma: when a relationship is accepted in a proper, dharmic manner, it can stabilize life, remove mental agitation (jvara as inner distress), and support a settled, responsible household existence.
The sage accepts the maiden as his wife and then lives happily with her in his hermitage; his prior worry or suffering is described as having departed, indicating a transition from distress to contented domestic life.
