यथा ह्ुपस्थितैश्वर्या: प्रजायन्ते न राजसा: । एवमेवात्मना5७त्मानं पूजयन्तीह धार्मिका:

Transliteration

yathā hy upasthitaiśvaryāḥ prajāyante na rājasāḥ | evam evātmanātmānaṃ pūjayantīha dhārmikāḥ ||

Translation

ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ—ଯେମାନଙ୍କର ଐଶ୍ୱର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ହିଁ ସ୍ଥାପିତ, ସେମାନେ ରଜୋଗୁଣପ୍ରେରିତ ଅତିତାପରେ ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମକୁ ଆକାଂକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ; ସେହିପରି ଧାର୍ମିକମାନେ ଏଠାରେ ଆତ୍ମା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆତ୍ମାକୁ ହିଁ ପୂଜନ କରନ୍ତି। ଧର୍ମାନୁଷ୍ଠାନର ଶିଷ୍ଟାଚାରରେ, ନିଜ ପ୍ରୟାସରେ, ସେମାନେ ଅନ୍ତଃସତ୍ତାକୁ ଉଚ୍ଚ ପଦକୁ ଉନ୍ନତ କରନ୍ତି—ରଜସର ପ୍ରାବଳ୍ୟରେ ପୁଣି ଜନ୍ମ-ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ଚକ୍ରରେ ନ ପଡ଼ିବା ପାଇଁ।
