The verse teaches that disciplined observance of Vedic household rites—especially proper maintenance of the three sacred fires—can elevate a Vaiśya to the status of dvija, and yields auspicious results such as birth in a pure and eminent Kṣatriya lineage. The ethical subtext is humility, truthfulness, restraint, and service-oriented ritual life.
Maheśvara is instructing about the fruits of proper dharma for householders, specifically describing how a Vaiśya who performs the tretāgni-based rites according to mantra gains higher standing and favorable rebirth.
