Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
दत्त्वा तु सततं ते5स्तु कौरवाणां धुरन्धर | दानयज्ञक्रियायुक्ता बुद्धिर्धमोपचायिनी,कौरवधुरंधर! तुम भी सदा दान करते रहो। तुम्हारी बुद्धि दान और यज्ञकी क्रियामें संलग्न हो धर्मकी उन्नति करती रहे
dattvā tu satataṃ te 'stu kauravāṇāṃ dhurandhara | dānayajñakriyāyuktā buddhir dharmopacāyinī ||
ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ—ହେ କୌରବଧୁରନ୍ଧର! ତୁମେ ସଦା ଦାନ କରିଚାଲ। ଦାନ ଓ ଯଜ୍ଞକ୍ରିୟାରେ ନିୟୁକ୍ତ ତୁମ ବୁଦ୍ଧି ସଦା ଧର୍ମର ବୃଦ୍ଧି କରୁ।
भीष्म उवाच
Continual generosity and commitment to sacrificial/ritual duty should shape one’s intellect, because such disciplined giving and worship are presented as direct means to strengthen and expand dharma.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma addresses a leading Kaurava figure, urging him to persist in charitable giving and to keep his mind devoted to dāna and yajña as a foundation for righteous conduct.
